Description: While the literature is clear that both social emotional learning (SEL) and culturally responsive instruction (CRI) are necessary to address educational inequity, these two areas of thought and action have been kept separate in discussions of educating the whole child. Too often we approach socialemotional development (SED) activities with a “race and culture” neutral stance despite the fact that we live in a structurally racialized society. Given this reality, it is important to understand why culturally responsive practices should be an important part of how we frame and practice socialemotional teaching and learning in schools with majority minority student populations, racially and culturally diverse student populations, as well as with majority white student populations.

What is Responsive Web Design?

Responsive design means writing code ONCE, and having the page look great EVERYWHERE. A great, responsive site should be able to adapt to various screen resolutions. It will look good on a desktop computer, iPhone, iPad, or any of the other devices that people carry around in their pockets.
There are four types of responsive design: responsive, adaptive, fluid, and fixed. Each of them fall under the broader category of being “responsive,” yet each has it’s own pros and cons.
How to tell is a website is responsive? One way to test if your site or any site is responsive is just by opening it up in the browser and then doing this, making it smaller. This way you can see if the website looks good at the various widths and sizes.

What is a Responsive Citizen?

Responsive citizens are community members who actively participate in the realization of their rights and in the fulfilment of their duties. The right to public participation refers to participatory democracy on the basis of informed and empowered citizenship. Citizens have the right to ongoing interactions with the people they elected and municipalities must foster a culture of community participation. 
The Municipal Systems Act grants us the right to make recommendations, representations and other presentations to the municipality. Citizens also have certain duties. The ward committees are an important way for the public to communicate. If we have tried to communicate but have failed we can also run petitions and engage in peaceful demonstrations.
