Today on HamRadioComms I review the Diamond SX200 Power SWR meter. I’m using a VX8DR and a MFJ261 dummy load to demonstrate the meter.
Another control I forgot to mention is the zero meter adjustment screw seen as a hole underneath the center of the meter. You can use this to move the needle to the zero line if it is ever off, mine has been perfect since I bought the meter.
All the knobs, switches, and buttons work smoothly and have a quality feel to them.

The Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) is an indication of the amount of mismatch between an antenna and the feed line connecting to it. The range of values for VSWR is from 1 to ∞. A VSWR value under 2 is considered suitable for most antenna applications. The antenna can be described as having a good match. So when someone says that the antenna is poorly matched, very often it means that the VSWR value exceeds 2 for a frequency of interest.

On this video we run a test of an \”affordable\” Chinese power meter against a reasonable quality analogue meter, I test a number of radios from UV5R through to Icom and Yaesu and see how the results stack up and I find out just how bad PL259 can be when operating on higher power UHF frequencies, well at least the ones I have here anyway.
