  1. Unfortunately I am one of those students who don’t work well during online, but my grades were always pretty good, so if I get good grades again, can I leave iep???

  2. I had an IEP starting at the end of 8th grade. In which the IEP is there for my next 4 years all 4 years of high school. From 8th-9th grade, I was in a small school in which I needed an IEP, because I had conflicts with people and I actually met the requirements, but I didn't think anything of it. In 10th grade, I was in a traditional high school and I learned more about this IEP. Then at the end of 10th grade, I canceled my IEP! I feel more happier now and I can improve on my on. On the day I announced my IEP was cancelled many teachers were proud of me and on my side! Even one teacher was mad at one of the special education teachers!

  4. I have an IEP and alot of my friends are in AP classes and sometimes I feel insecure. I'm scared I'll be judged. But I'm working hard in school and getting good grades and I'm hoping to get into a good college to becoming a vet and to be able to be in the performing arts.

  5. They should change the system in a way like keep it a secret so other students in normal classes wouldn't think IEP is for "retarded" people. Like I was so ashamed and embarrassed when people learn I'm in IEP. My elementary days are a little ruined because of it. Had consider suiciding too.

  6. I don’t know why but I have a laptop and have a learning disability ( also have IEP ) and IEP really helps me to understand more with math and writing. I’m in 6th grade. But at the same time… I really don’t like going to IEP in my school the teacher tells me I have to go to IEP and get your laptop checked. They also do treat me like I have a learning disability witch I do, but I go to IEP every period in my school to help me. Also my teacher makes me type on my laptop and can’t be writing like other kids do like…why can’t I and again I can’t explain why I have a laptop.

  7. I feel like I’m on a level of a 9 year old even though I am in 8th grade. I wouldn’t call this a bad program but you should leave it or consider leaving after your disability has been minimized or gone, preferably gone. The IEP helped me get rid of my speech impairment but the so called Ela lessons are very easy to understand and don’t require any critical thinking. I feel like if you are working in a 4 or 3 person group they should at least be working at the same level as you are. Nonetheless I wouldn’t consider this program awful.

  8. My school is trying to put me in this and I have no problems with my grades I only have problems with my school testing I have no problem with my hearing or anything. My brother was in it and he quit school because of how bad this class is. My school system keeps on calling my mom and dad every year about putting me in an iep. My parents say no because it ruined my brothers life. And they don’t want that for me. It’s like my school won’t take a no they need to shut up and take no for an answer they have been trying since I was in 1st grade. My school sucks and I hate it. I have no problems with my speaking or hearing I am not a special kid.

  11. When you get an IEP what happens like do you get pulled out of a class?

I know I’m getting an IEP because I secretly read information I shouldn’t have read of a specific test they did on me and is said I would get an IEP they only spoke to my mom but not to me but I read everything so I secretly know.

  16. I‘m in 504, and I heard some sketchy things about it. I heard that it’s more difficult to get a job or be accepted into college if there are records of me being part of this plan. Is this true? The last thing I want is for my education to rely on an accommodation.

  20. I have an IEP. I feel like a lot of people believe that having an IEP mean that you're not as smart, dont know how to speak, or socialize normally. Students can have an IEP for different reasons. We can also have different accommodations. For me, I have the option to take my test in another room. I also have the option for my test questions to be read to me. However I read it myself because it's easier that way for me. A lot of teachers are very lenient and will allow for other students to do the same even without an IEP. But haveing an IEP just insures that options are available.
