Useful: Your content should be original and fulfill a need
Usable: The Product must be easy to use
Desirable: Image, identity, brand, and other design elements are used to evoke emotion
and appreciation
Learnable: Content needs to be navigable and simple enough to be learned by the user
while they are using it
Memorable The user should be able to return to the product without having to relearn it
Accessible: Content needs to be accessible to people with disabilities
Credible: Users must trust and believe what you tell them

Thus, making such design decisions carefully by considering how it will be received is important. This is accomplished by tapping into the human’s senses such as eyesight, touch, and hearing. In this talk, we’ll be dissecting the kinds of design decisions that are being made by tech companies to make their product more appealing. Harrish is pursuing his Masters in Computer Science. He’s a fitness coach, and has a deep interest in public speaking and acting. He’s actively participated in public speaking events like Model United Nations and also takes pride in having successfully hosted several highlevel events during his undergraduate. He has enthusiastically participated in both plays and musicals in nationallevel competitions. He currently works as a Building Manager at the Maverick Activity Center and is also a UTA Summer Orientation Ambassador, conducting several orientation sessions to incoming students representing Campus Recreation. Mari kita ke masa lalu. Apa kalian masih ingat dengan tampilan web page di awal tahun 2000an? Web page yang dulu itu bisa diibaratkan dengan pasar tradisional di pagi hari; ramai dan berantakan. Tentu saja itu sesuatu hal yang tidak nyaman untuk dilihat. Namun pada saat itu, fokus dari sebuah web page adalah pengguna dapat mengakses informasi sebanyak mungkin. Seiring berjalannya waktu, jumlah web page pun semakin bertambah. Hal ini membuat pengguna memiliki ekspektasi yang lebih tinggi mengenai pengalaman mereka dalam mengakses web page. Hal inilah yang mendasari munculnya aspek baru dalam bidang teknologi yaitu User Experience (UX).

Bagi Arum Kusalawicitra (Tim Produk UX Researcher di GOJEK), UX adalah proses keseluruhan pengalaman pengguna ketika menggunakan produk atau jasa dan juga bagaimana tanggapannya mereka. Pada dasarnya, apakah mereka senang dengan produknya. Contohnya, ketika mereka menggunakan aplikasi, ada semacam perjalanan atau proses yang harus mereka lalui dari garis awal sampai akhir. Umpamanya, kamu mau beli tiket konser, kamu harus log in dulu, lalu mencari tiketnya, setelah itu kamu melakukan pembayarannya, dan garis akhinya adalah ketika kamu menerima tiketnya di email. ITULAH pengalamannya. Dari contoh tadi, UX berperan dalam kemudahan atau kesulitan saat membeli tiket tadi. Itulah kenapa UX tidak bisa dilihat, tapi bisa DIRASAKAN oleh pelanggan.

Let us have a quick trip to memory lane. Do you remember web pages in the early 2000s? Web pages back then is the equivalent of traditional market in the morning; crowded and messy. Obviously it is unpleasant to see. But at that time, the focus of a web page is that the users can access as much information as possible. As time goes by, the number of web pages keep growing. This makes users have higher expectations about their experience in accessing web pages. This is what underlies the emergence of new aspects in the field of technology that is User Experience (UX).

For Arum Kusalawicitra (Product Team UX Researcher at GOJEK) explains that UX is the overall process of customer experience from using a product or service and how they perceived it. It is very much depends on how happy the customer with the product. For instance, when they use an app, there will be a journey for them from the starting line to the finish line. Say you want to buy a concert ticket, you start with logging in, then finding your ticket, after that you do they payment, and the finish line is when you receive your ticket in your email. THAT is an experience in itself. From that example, UX plays the role of how easy or frustrating it is to buy the ticket. That is why it cannot been seen but it can be FELT by the customer.
